Daffodil Day

Yesterday I was greeted at the oncology center by two volunteers from the American Cancer Society who handed me a bouquet of daffodils.  How uplifting it was to carry my flowers into the infusion room.  I looked around at my fellow travelers on the chemo path, each with their bouquets, and shed a tear.

The Society notes:
As the first flower of spring, the daffodil is a symbol of hope. To the American Cancer Society, it represents the hope we all share for a future where cancer is no longer a life-threatening disease.

  1. Hi Peter. On this first day of spring (and in the autumn of your chemo, thank God), I wanted to send you well-wishes. I looked out a window last week or so ago, happened to see you in the backyard, and smiled. Thanks for sharing your (I know, I'm stealing from 12-step literature, but what the hey) experience, strength, and hope--not to mention creativity. Other Peter.

    Peter --

I've got everything crossed that the chemo is behind you. What a grueling race you've had to run.

I was moved by your description of your daffodil experience with the Cancer Society volunteers, and was wondering if you would ever consider allowing me to share that with my co-workers. One of our company-supported fundraisers each year is the daffodil days effort by the American Cancer Society, and it would be so powerful to let contributors know that their small gesture can have an exponential effect.

I send you therapeutic hugs, and a hurrah for the blooms of spring.

    Love - Chaz

  4. Viola your writing is so visual and reaches to our souls. I love it and there are tears running down my face. The endurance race you both have had to run.
Peter you are a true inspiration and have taught us all a very good lesson.

There is beauty and life all around us we just have to open our eyes, hearts and minds.

We are so sorry that your precious guitar has to put to the side for awhile, we know it gives you joy!

Our continued prayers and good thoughts

    Many hugs

    Mike and Marianna
